MARRIAGE

When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Jane. I didn't love her anymore. I just pitied her! With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Jane so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now. The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn't have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane. When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again. In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but needed a month's notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month's time and she didn't want to disrupt him with our broken marriage. This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day. She requested that every day for the month's duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request. I told Jane about my wife's divorce conditions. . She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully. My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don't tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside thethrew with the divorce.-- At least, in the eyes of our son--- I'm a loving husband.... The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse's friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage! If you don't share this, nothing will happen to you. If you do, you just might save a marriage. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

The Boy and the Heart

There was once a boy who was born without a heart. As far back as he could remember he didn’t feel right. Something was missing.

Though he didn’t have a heart, a man in authority who seemed to know about these things gave him a heart shaped box and said:

“Fill this with good things and then you will have a full heart”. The heart shaped box was big and red and shiny with a padlock on it. It had a slot in the lid to put things in.

The boy wondered what to put in the box. First he put in some of his toys. The he emptied his piggy bank, shaking all the coins in it into the box. There seemed to be plenty of space left in the box. So the boy got a job as a paper boy and every week he would put his money into the heart shaped box. He put sweets and computer games and magazines into the hole in the box. The box was still not full.

The boy was growing up. He was good at reading and put all the books he loved into the box. He got a college degree and put his college books into the box along with his degree papers and his graduation clothes.

By this time the boy was growing up. He got a job and put his salary in the box. The box was still not full. He put car keys and jewelery and drinks and good food into the box. He got married and put his wedding ring in the box.

One day the boy was tired and angry. Nothing was changing. Nothing was helping. He still did not have a real heart and wanted to know why the box would not fill up. He took a crow bar and jammed it against the lid of the box. With a snapping sound the lock came off and the lid fell open. Inside, the heart shaped box was dry and empty. The boy was very sad and began to cry, and his tears fell on the dust on the bottom of the box.

Holding the box, he turned around. He did not know where he was going or what he was going to do. At that moment, through his tears, he saw a man. The boy did not know who it was, he could not see clearly because he was crying so much. This man was dressed simply, like a gardener, not like a man of authority.

“Why are you crying?” said the man.

“I have given my life and all that is precious to me to filling up this stupid box” said the boy, “and now I do not know where it has all gone. Now I will never have a heart.”

The man was quiet, then said to the boy.

“Give me the box.”

The man took a simple piece of wood that was in the shape of a heart. The heart was scarred and splintered and ugly. It wasn’t pretty and expensive like the things that the boy had put into the box before. “This heart is simple and lowly” said the man “but it should do the trick”. He put it inside, then nailed the lid of the heart shaped box shut with three long nails.

The boy looked at the heart shaped box. Now, the crack in the lid was sealed with the wood of the heart that was inside it. He couldn’t put anything into it any more.

Suddenly, the boy realized that he felt different. He touched his chest. Something had happened inside him. What was this new sensation? Amazed, the boy realized that he had a new heart, and the first thing that he felt in it was gratitude. He turned in astonishment to thank the man, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Its been too-long but gradually i will be here.... much has happened to divert my attentions and thoughts elsewhere but with Spring and some sunshine all will be well

Dolls House .. Navy coach built silver cross 60/70s twin dolls pram and white drop side cot

The pram needs some restoration only if you felt like it some rust on the chrome ..
The tudor style three story dolls house was made by a dotting Grandpa. not posh.. but could be.. a little girls dream!.
The cot seems to be too large for dolls and could even have been made crib size for a baby...!

My intention was to makeover the dolls house and the cot but i have so many projects on the go i just know its going to be ages before i can put the time to it i still have a small dolls house 60s style and small dolls pram 50s style ! But i have to be real and put sentiment to one side i need to de clutter my clutter ..i,m feeling weak at the knees at the thought of it all the sorting of the attic !! the caravan in the garden .. .and my dining room eek...a work party would be good !...

I am a self confessed hoarder...and no longer in denial ? ha ha so watch this space as i.. clear.. sort.. and recycle..! i think i could stock a shop ...

Spring has sprung ..

Sunny days are here .... better times to come ..
!
On a positive note i have been very creative i find that when i am floored with fibro days being creative is therapy for me .. and i have a feast of colour to photograph to show you all
.. .I love to see all the spring flowers and baby lambs hop skipping in the field behind the house ...new life is...amazing...
Tomorrows plan the garden centre .. we have a lot of national garden gift tokens given us as Christmas presents to use i,m thinking Hollyhocks lupins delphiniums fuchsias and bedding plants galore we are digging a new flower bed so need to fill it ..

At the last auction i bought a welsh dresser dark oaky colour in dire need of a face lift .. the plan is to paint it and wallpaper the back ..colour ?... the jury's still out on that one .

My absence this last weeks has been because I have fibromyalgia /Cf's and the symptoms have been acute and i have huge spinal skeletal damage that requires major surgery which i am mulling over whether to have it as the surgeon cannot guarantee i will be pain free after .... like a lot of nurses the no lifting policy came too late.. and i have had blogger block and brain fog ..!! and felt as though i had nothing to say .. not like me at all ..ha ha ........ but thankfully i am much improved.... Ben has had another bad seizure last week and we ended up blue lighted to Derriford hospital Plymouth until 4am !
But the fog is lifting and i have so much planned for this year ..i have a special birthday in December and am using this year as a ..i need to ...DE CLUTTER.. ... yes you heard it first here girls .......

Remember a few months back i had a lampshade dilemma...! well i was going to make a slipcover Raspberry Grace left me a link to a tutorial ...needless to say i haven't got around to it as my sewing machine needs a service the stitching gathers up underneath , luckily.. Cowslip Patchworks.. will take them as they are an agency for someone so will take it over this week
. However i found a link on another blog and found these yummy shades at giftdotcom and only 99p ! also some recycled red spotty big bags to tidy some of my clutter away , wool , fabric etc ... also a little red spotty milk jug ..i have a red spotty thing going on at the moment and have invested in some plain cream china that mixes so well with any pattern ...and looks fab on my cath kid red paisley oilcloth
Did you notice my last post the MDF shapes ? waiting to be decopatched i have done an N for my daughters birthday and am pleased with the result i went to ..Westpoint .and bought several papers i have done a big clock i bought in an auction for £1..and that looks fab i will photograph it later now i am looking around and can see loads that i could decopatch .
At last weeks auction i bought four pine dining chairs for £5 and plan to paint them all different colours i have some CK paint bought from Craig@Rose and some Farrel@Ball leftover from another project...
plenty to keep me outa mischief !!

My Valentine

My Valentine brought me some 12 faby red roses this morning and a beautiful card ....

I will post some pics later right now we are off out for lunch probably in Asda but oh what a joyous day it is folks the sun is shining and it makes my heart go skipy , at the family farm baby lambs are being born and on my word i do believe spring is not far away ....!!

Round up of ..Christmas . I.hadn't realized that it was so long since i last wrote a post ..where does the time go ? ! One of a whole flock of crochet birdies..i also did several robins which sold in a local .posh shop !! tutorial from Lucy at Attic24 ....See the crochet christmas tree garland .? tutorial from ..Royal Sisters blog i was really pleased with it ... also another homespun check garland i made last year using a long jute platt ,and fabric strips cut to size and tied in takes quite a lot of fabric but well worth it , i had several around the house i.m thinking that in the .. old colonial days ladies would have cut up old worn out clothes .. tail ends of shirts ..and made these sitting on a veranda in a rocking chair is how i imagine ... nothing went to waste and to be honest i was brought up that way so ..make do and mend was a way of life for me and my Mum taught us well i am the fourth of five girls so hand me downs from sisters and cousins was the norm ...we did have one new dress twice a year.. winter for christmas and summer for Sunday school anniversary celebration's

The top garland also on a jute platt i have used bells candy canes homespun ribbon wooden bobbins and anything you fancy .. i plan to do some Easter themed ones for the ..posh ..shop !
I can do a tutorial for the garland if anyone wants it and can be adapted to suit any season of the year or just a nice.. Shabby Chic.. item for your home . using scraps of leftover fabric

My Christmas cake was part of an idea from Kirsties Home Made Christmas......i wanted to do red and green spots .. ..and a green tree but dying fondant icing green with food colouring was just too pale, so the pink theme evolved instead....a bit of a rush on Christmas eve..! Alan delivered it to my in laws at the family farm near Bude on Christmas morning !!!

Today i have turned a year older ..!! well actually only a day older than yesterday !ha ha ... we have had a chinese takeaway treat for tea a tradition we usually have on our birthdays, and lots of phone calls today with birthday wishes and even one from Cypress
Over the next few days i have a lota catching up with my blog girlfriends + posting some christmas pics + a rundown of my homemade decorations and crochet+ some real homespun garlands i made .

Spend as much time as you can, having fun with your little ones. Be slow to anger, quick to forgive, and hug them lots and lots. Read with them, play with them, enjoy them.

Slow down to their pace, take time to enjoy nature together, just amble along, don't hurry. Be honest with them, without burdening them with too much for young minds. Read to them at bedtime. Bake with them, let them help you around the home.

Don't wish the next stage to come...it will come soon enough. Keep your sense of humour, and soak up every moment with them. Praise them. Love them. Love them with every fibre of your being. Give it your all.

A time will come when your little ones will become big ones, launching themselves into the world...moving on in life...flying the nest. Nothing quite prepares you for the empty nest feeling...but deep down you will have an unbreakable bond between you, which will keep your hearts connected, even over hundreds of miles.

So, rejoice in your full nest...gather your chicks under your wings and nestle down.

wip is growing well and i am loving it faby colours really as you may well have guessed i love..need colour and pattern ..never been any different,i have several huge.. round cushions to put together no pennies for a while to buy cushions to go inside as i need 24"..maybe in the new year sales

Kirsty's Home Made Home .. available on pre order at Amazon i,m really looking forward to the Postie bringing this i adored watching the series on C4 and got a such lot out of it .. i live within a couple of miles from the Cowslip Patchworks that was featured on the series ...i have made some fab candles in tea cups and some to sell ! {hint} ....some went at the craft fair i did a couple of weeks ago as did fingerless mitts {attic24} pattern ,+ some granny blankies i lovingly hooked ..sad to see them go .. but have a ..WIP a biggish blankie on the go , birds i made out of felt and paisley fabric were a hit too i still have a whole flock left! so may list a few things .. and a few crochet birdie Robins , all in all i have been productive and am well and truly over a really bad chest virus thing . , Ben is well and no more seizures thankfully
I,m hoping for a trip to Tavistock tomorrow my favourite place , my puter has been to the puter Doc again so have been offline for a week back today so am busy catching up on you all .

Craft Fair

My very first craft fair is this Saturday and have been making a variety of things and its been a rough few weeks !! last week i went down with a chesty virusey thing only had swine flu 6 weeks ago.. too much !! also on Saturday early am Ben had a massive grand mall seizure it was very frightening and i had to call 999 ... he hasn't had one this bad for years he,s fine now thankfully, Ben has had them since he was about two and is also autisic
Today i feel much better and need to get on with pricing my goodies i find that difficult ....not everyone gets " homemade " and compare prices to the mass produced market
I,m so much better at giving away than selling ! also my computer is playing up PC Doc says its the hard drive or motherboard eek !! sounds expensive ..
I will take pictures of my stall .... it may be the only one i do ! i,m doing a mix of knits and crochet and some craft items i have to many of !! and candles in tea cups need to make them today

Craft day on QVC

What a day !... i just had to be near the TV so a lotta hooking going on to ease the guilt.. you know how it goes if i,m sitting hooking them i,m busy ! enough said what a treat to have Martha Stewart a whole 2 hours of amazing things and very different .. i am also a fan of Anna Griffin on at 11pm shall watch from my bed me thinks ..!! crafts oh dear i just had to buy the christmas stamps inc gingerbread men houses oh and so much more and i couldn't resist the glitters ... looking forwards to making my christmas cards now i have my theme and stamping on brown wrapping paper what fun to be had next week when the postie brings my parcel
I am busy ..making ... as first time ..ever.. i am having a stall at a craft fayre on the 31st October more on that another day

Auction bargains

Its auction day
In a quiet backwater hamlet..not far from Tintagel tis very much a social occasion too some folks we have got to know met us with.... we thought you had left the country..!! where have you been .?. we didn't make the last two previous months .nice to know we have been missed !
So a quick scan of the tables eyeing up and making a mental list of potential bids ... some 459 lots were on offer
I had a maiden bid on a vintage childs drop side cot its.. adorable..£5 and just couldn't resist it ..it will get the CK delphinium paint.. sew some bedding in CK Rosalie too what fun ... i will post some pics another day so look out for them and some of the other bits n bobs that came home with me .

Eventually ...after many tries and different backgrounds..the one that is on now worked ...ALL ..the others just ended up with the the code on the top of the blog despite following instructions to the letter !
instead of the design and just a totally white background i quite like the new one ish...

The sun has got his hat on today but its cold so i,m lighting the wood burner ..later i have a few plants to top up and refresh the summer pots that are sadly looking a little leggy like the violas they are getting a haircut !!!!! where there are flowers on the end of a long stem trim back near to the base and yes ..hopefully they will shoot again ..and of course a feed we are still feeding weekly all our pots/baskets as ours will often even in November still have flowers if i carry on de heading.

Tavistock Market

One Saturday afternoon whilst browsing around my favourite markets in Tavistock i spotted this chair looking very out of place on an antique stall, drawn by the reddish/pink check ..me thinks that will go in any room at home ,so a deal was struck and the man delivered it to my home all in the price for £45 not a mega bargain but it was in fact brand spanking new[ it had been his granddaughters impulse buy]..but became mine instead !

Remember this old tin trunk from a few months back well here it is a lot prettier painted in Cath Kidston Delphinium furniture paint i,m really pleased with it and shall probably paper the inside ,its in the bedroom handy to store our jumpers in ,
photographed on my bed the blanket underneath done in 10" squares i made about 4/5 years ago the inspiration from the Cath Kidston collection that year and goes well with the Rosalie duvets

Just a line or two to say i am back .... 10 days with ..The Flu and ..VERY poorly indeed, followed by 9 days in Wales home yesterday.. and 3 whole weeks of being off line ...as my jolly puter has been to the Doc known as Nelson he has just delivered it back 10 minutes ago ..

The"Focus" wallpaper

Lampshade dilemma again ... one of my lampshades i want to stick the fabric on what adhesive should i use ? one of you will have the answer i,m sure ...,another i will make a cover for, and another i will wallpaper, and then decide what method works best i will let you know how it goes.
This is the Focus wallpaper i meant to post before.
On Saturday i went to Big girls art/craft class , the twelve tiles i made last time i painted also buttons and hearts Jul,s will fire and glaze them ready for pick up in a week... cant wait to see them .

Oh and the sun shone for me at the weekend !!!!

Wallpaper bargain

It goes without saying i like this Cath Kidston wallpaper ,...but last night a fellow blogger mentioned that Focus diy store had a pretend one reduced to £5.. i had seen it and planned to get some in the sale it was originally £ 17.99 last year ... my thoughts were could it be ....well tis true ...and i have 6 rolls of it.. truly a bargain and its destined for our bedroom ..we live in a chalet type bungalow .. so bedrooms in the roof space and tiny ,also the walls slant so no straight sides,i,m sure this will be look a treat we have been hear 10+ years and haven't decorated so its time.
We have also a new bed its black and brass and pretends to be an old Victorian style i love it and have always wanted one,... well for ever... .that was also a bargain £800 down to £250 Hubs spoilt me .
Today i have started a new project a blanket all in squares just plain knitting in Rowan pure wool no idea on its size yet ....

Oh and the sun shone today !!!!!!

Cowslip Patchworks

What a difference the "sun" makes to our well being , three days worth !! , Thursday i washed dried and ironed!.. got endless jobs done simply because it wasn't "raining" us Brits have had three summers in a row of rain and almost no point in summer clothes , that's why i have to blog about the "sun" and how it makes me feel ....."Happy", energised, motivated ..and well i could go on and on ........

My daughter Naomi visited on Thursday until today she works in a children's home in Somerset and was on days off ,its been a while since i last saw her and was excited she was coming , yesterday we went to" Cowslip Patchworks" as featured in Kristy's homemade home on Channel 4 only two miles from me she was like a child in a sweet shop...she recently started making a quilt so was in need of some more fabric and of course we had to test out the tea room for lunch ... a lovely day we had too.

A long overdue visit to the hairdressers and a few snips later cut into a graduated bob and i love it ! a lota length off, so much cooler in this hot weather that appears to have disappeared
This last 2 weeks have seen me in hospital last Wednesday for an epidural for pain relief into my very damaged spine, not nice . this Wednesday the dentist for a tooth out and several fillings i,m a coward so had iv sedation , yesterday our little Westie Milly had a large breast tumour removed the vet hopes she got it all,

Hasn't it been a sunny week ? Big Al has had a weeks hols and we have been out and about and catching up on jobs around the home.
On Tuesday we went to Tavistock ...and then back to Jaxs for a BBQ in their garden such a warm evening ....
On Thursday we went to the County show known as ...The Royal Cornwall Show held in June every year in Wadebridge Cornwall UK it was VERY hot and i am very sun burnt...never thought about sunscreen as i had long sleeves but oh my neck and chest caught it i,m a red head so am always careful as a rule as i burn fast !! we had a fab day lots to see animals all kinds ,stalls ..you name it and it was there and i bought the Daisy's {below }from the flower tent which was ..amazing ... i adore Daisy's and will pot them up tomorrow .... you see on Chris,s birthday i always buy some thing for the garden ,as we have no grave , so this year it was the.. Daisy's purple yellow and pink . he is in my thoughts always but its healthy to laugh and cry as one recalls Memories .. trials and tribulations shape us and build character.. and all is well in the household ....

I,m a little sad .. 15 years ago today i lost my firstborn son in a fatal car crash, i,m OK ...but... sad then happy various emotions they are not acute and gut wrenching as they were in the early years ..
I feel peaceful and nurtured with a few phone calls , Jax ... my daughter Naomi .. and my girlfriend and we chatted about Chris ..you see hes in my heart.. my memories.. .....sometimes i panic and think ..what did his voice sound like ?.... and i screw up my eyes wanting to visualise to see his face , and recently i forgot what colour his eyes were..! panic ..all normal stuff in the process of learning to live without a child my baby.. my grown son .. and i miss him so very much ... i will see him again one day you see the Prodigal son did come home , I had the privilege of baptizing him with the Pastors of my church 9 months before you see he was only ever lent to me and now he is with his Heavenly Father .....
Its been a fabulous day weather wise and i have been losing myself in potting plants , also i gave a basket a lovely paint job in Cath Kidston Delphinium such a lovely colour , being creative is like medicine for me ......

Decision made ..i,m going to make the covers for my lampshades choice of two but i think i will be the red CK gypsy? i,ve just draped it over the shade to give an idea what it could look like .. see my previous post ..two ideas..given by Sian and Raspberry Grace and a link to a tutorial , have to hand stitch them as the tension on my machine is all wrong .
A little broach to tickle your taste buds i have a few for sale and two more bags .
Its been a sunny windy day today my favourite weather !..potted up some plants , painted a small bookcase in CK furniture paint Delphinium ....Gorgeous colour i,m going to order some more my dresser would look good in this colour!! cant wait !

Lampshade ideas

Help ..!needed girls I,m at a loss i,m searching for two table lamp shades biggish as the base is a good two feet tall , something like Cath Kidston used to do in flowery or gingham check i have googled it and so far have come up with plain ones at a shocking price and not my cuppa tea anyway ....I went to the Biggie Best site but i had to be trade to find out prices there's used to be fab... but for sure high in price , Ikea had some plain ones but not available to buy on line in plain red ...My nearest Ikea is in Bristol which is almost 3 hours from me in Cornwall .....living where i do is perfect ..... my nearest big shops is Plymouth and that's 35 miles away and rarely go these days so online is perfect for me ..
I have had a string of thrifted lampshades over the years but i feel these lamps that i have done a makeover on... deserve a new one ... could get excited and cover one ..i don't know how.. but could have a bash ,if i don't find what i want cant be that hard can it ?
I shall continue my search ....

Sunny Days

Is it to good to be true or are we in for some dry sunny days ? my spirit felt lifted today just to be able to potter outside and hang my washing out to dry...
The hanging baskets are fattening up nicely.... in the green house by night and out on dry days . We live in a quite backwater hamlet and quite high up ,so get a lotta wind we are still getting some frosty mornings .. so end of June before its safe to put them out at the rate they are growing .
We have about 400 little plants Petunias Diascia Geraniums slowly growing but we need some warm sunshine to speed them up !!!Its still quite cold here in the UK....i.m still wearing jeans socks and jumpers !!

Last Saturday we went to Tavistock to collect my new glasses ....i lost my beloved green ones in the garden and found them days later with the arm hanging off...i was long overdue for a test so chose some new ones ..one pair is tortoiseshell and the other is a soft red colour buy one pair get one free in Spec savers i,m really pleased with them
Of course i had a recky in the Charity's and found some nice bits of fabric that i plan to make cushion covers with ...no luck with cushions pads in Tavistock for the newest crochet covers but found some on the Internet 22" round £11 each in duck down they came today so have sewn them in ,..and they look a treat really fat and soft.
Its such a shame that the local shops have closed and i couldn't get cushion pads within maybe 35 miles and no guarantee that i would get them in Plymouth ...my nearest city i always like to buy local but no choice on this purchase
Rain has stopped play in the garden the weather has been wild and torrential rain here for about well almost 3 weeks so no paint job on my old trunk .. as i paint outside i,m itching to do it as its going in my bedroom
We did our grocery shop in Morrisons on the way home and couldnt believe my eyes what a treat this enamel breadbin and cannisters for £14.99.... somehow fell into the trolly...!! of course i had a breadbin but i keep potatoes in it now ! just the job ....

The first photo is the front of my first ever round cushion its 20" in diameter love it !i,m looking out for a suitable jumper to cut up for the back or fabric /fleece maybe..i feel its too costly to have a crochet back and never see it !

My bags have turned out really well and they are all different sizes i modified the original pattern from Lucy at Attic 24 and they are all made using Rowans pure wool DK..expensive to make but well worth it and they are for sale one is sold already my first sale ...

Look out for some paint makeovers over the next few days i,m working on a little something.
Big Al has the weekend off and we are going to Tavistock my favourite town its got an excellent market.. also i,m collecting my new glasses..!

1940s bicycle

Do you like my bicycle its a genuine 1940s no gears wonder who used to ride it maybe a district nurse ? i expect it could tell a tale or to..!.i bought it in a farm auction for £12 its even got a child's seat on the back ...last year i planted the basket with summer blooms ,and i found another just the right size to fit in the seat it looked a treat and reminded me of holidaying in a French village and saw a bicycle propped against a cottage ...sigh would love to revisit that village again

For me this is so true .we have been around all weekend doing homey kinda things ...its nice to go out too..but am always glad to come home , we live by and around green fields with baby lambs hop skipping loving the sunshine on their backs , we feed and encourage the birds to dine here , shame the Daffodils are coming to an end but i was excited to find Bluebells under the trees still some tulips and grape hyacinths just had to pick some to dot round the house in little jugs
Yes.. its been another beautiful warm spring weekend ...and as Pa Larkins [ Darling buds of May ] would say ..Perfic !

This old pine bench we bought in an auction for £8 ..and will be useful when we have more than four around the garden table...painted in a duck egg blue ish garden shades and the seat part covered in oilcloth .. like the table, much easier to clean when the birdies have left their calling card !!
We went at the weekend to a real country cottage garden center and treated ..us.. and the garden to some fab plants for the new flower border ..that Big Al has yet to dig for me..later i will list the names of what we got i,m really excited about this ...can you tell ?
Today i,m off to the hairdressers and a rummage in the charities ....

These are the chairs that i spoke about in an earlier post i recovered for Jax ,well now she has her own blog ...The chronicles of crafty crow..do pay her a visit she only has one visitor.. me ....
I recovered my ironing board this week ..whilst it would be nice to have a Cath Kodston cover but in my opinion expensive and i only scorch them.!! i rummaged through my fabric box and found this red/white spot ..looks Oath ish yet again my stapler was put to good use .. the ironing board is an old 50s/60s wooden one and i love it .

THE STORY OF EDITH BURNS...

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio , Texas .

She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr.

Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite

patient was Edith Burns.

One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because

of Edith Burns. When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith

with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother

sitting beside her.

Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my

name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain

the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.

Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse,

Beverly . Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood

pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe

in Easter?"

Beverly said, "Why yes I do.."

Edith said, "Well, what do you believe about Easter?"

Beverly said, "Well, it's all about egg hunts, going to church, and

dressing up." Edith kept pressing her about the real meaning of

Easter, and finally led her to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Phillips said, " Beverly , don't call Edith into the office quite

yet. I believe there is another delivery taking place in the waiting

room.

After being called back in the doctor's office, Edith sat down and when

she took a look at the doctor she said, "Dr. Will, why are you so sad?

Are you reading your Bible? Are you praying?"

Dr. Phillips said gently, "Edith, I'm the doctor and you're the

patient." With a heavy heart he said, "Your lab report came back and it

says you have cancer, and Edith, you're not going to live very long."

Edith said, "Why Will Phillips, shame on you. Why are you so sad? Do

you think God makes mistakes? You have just told me I'm going to see

my precious Lord Jesus, my husband, and my friends. You have just told

me that I am going to celebrate Easter forever, and here you are having

difficulty giving me my ticket!"

Dr. Phillips thought to himself, "What a magnificent woman this Edith

Burns is!"

Edith continued coming to Dr. Phillips. Christmas came and the office

was closed through January 3rd. On the day the office opened, Edith did

not show up. Later that afternoon, Edith called Dr. Phillips and said

she would have to be moving her story to the hospital and said, "Will,

I'm very near home, so would you make sure that they put women in here

next to me in my room who need to know about Easter."

Well, they did just that and women began to come in and share that room

with Edith. Many women were saved. Everybody on that floor from staff

to patients were so excited about Edith, that they started calling her

Edith Easter; that is everyone except Phyllis Cross, the head nurse.

Phyllis made it plain that she wanted nothing to do with Edith because

she was a "religious nut". She had been a nurse in an army hospital.

She had seen it all and heard it all. She was the original G.I. Jane.

She had been married three times, she was hard, cold, and did

everything by the book.

One morning the two nurses who were to attend to Edith were sick.

Edith had the flu and Phyllis Cross had to go in and give her a shot.

When she walked in, Edith had a big smile on her face and said,

"Phyllis, God loves you and I love you, and I have been praying for

you."

Phyllis Cross said, "Well, you can quit praying for me, it won't work.

I'm not interested."

Edith said, "Well, I will pray and I have asked God not to let me go

home until you come into the family."

Phyllis Cross said, "Then you will never die because that will never

happen," and curtly walked out of the room.

Every day Phyllis Cross would walk into the room and Edith would say,

"God loves you Phyllis and I love you, and I'm praying for you."

One day Phyllis Cross said she was literally drawn to Edith's room like

a magnet would draw iron. She sat down on the bed and Edith said, "I'm

so glad you have come, because God told me that today is your special

day"

Phyllis Cross said, "Edith, you have asked everybody here the question,

"Do you believe in Easter but you have never asked me."

Edith said, "Phyllis, I wanted to many times, but God told me to wait

until you asked, and now that you have asked." Edith Burns took her

Bible and shared with Phyllis Cross the Easter Story of the death,

burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Edith said, "Phyllis, do you

believe in Easter? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is alive and that

He wants to live in your heart?"

Phyllis Cross said, "Oh I want to believe that with all of my heart,

and I do want Jesus in my life "Right there, Phyllis Cross prayed and

invited Jesus Christ into her heart. For the first time Phyllis Cross

did not walk out of a hospital room, she was carried out on the wings

of angels..

Two days later, Phyllis Cross came in and Edith said, "Do you know what

day it is?" Phyllis Cross said, "Why Edith, it's Good Friday."

Edith said, "Oh, no, for you every day is Easter. Happy Easter

Phyllis!"

Two days later, on Easter Sunday, Phyllis Cross came into work, did

some of her duties and then went down to the flower shop and got some

Easter lilies because she wanted to go up to see Edith and give her

some Easter lilies and wish her a Happy Easter.

When she walked into Edith's room, Edith was in bed. That big black

Bible was on her lap. Her hands were in that Bible. There was a sweet

smile on her face. When Phyllis Cross went to pick up Edith's hand, she

realized Edith was dead. Her left hand was on John 14: "In my Father's

house are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come

again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be

also." Her right hand was on Revelation 21:4, "And God will wipe away

every tear from their eyes, there shall be no more death nor sorrow,

nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have

passed away."

Phyllis Cross took one look at that dead body, and then lifted her face

toward heaven, and with tears streaming down here cheeks, said, "Happy

Easter, Edith - Happy Easter!"

Phyllis Cross left Edith's body, walked out of the room, and over to a

table where two student nurses were sitting. She said, "My name is

Phyllis Cross. Do you believe in Easter?"

The sky was blue and the sun was shining , birds a singing and i,m armed with my paint tin,!! i have an odd kitchen chair and decided to paint it for the garden , to go with the little flowery table just outside the front door , we have tables all over so when the sun moves round back to front garden there is always a cosy corner to sit and relax in , this time i chose cuprinol garden shades --lavender i really like it a lot , the boot rack got a makeover too,..some large trellis planters ..and the wonky garden bench... the pets basked in the shade close by me .....
Loads of flowers in the garden are popping up ...tulips , wallflowers many different kinds of daffodils,forgetmenots,grape hyacinths , lots of colour ...just the way i like it .. + i even managed to do some potting up .. a satisfying afternoon i think so .

Last night Friday we went to the famous ...Jamaica Inn... which is popular with tourists because of its history the book Jamaica Inn was written , all about smuggling and lots of dark exploits ... we met up with family down on hols at the family farm we had a nice meal ..2 for 1 if we presented vouchers from the local rag [paper] washed down by some Cornish rattler cyder that i am partial tomorrow an auction more about that tomorrow[Saturday]

The sun was shining warm with a little breeze ,perfect weather to carry on painting the garden furniture one chair left to do.. i just ran out of day ! and then cover the table in the new oilcloth .. cant wait ..i am getting a lot of satisfaction out of this project and am determined to go with the flow...of needing colour in my life, and its overflowing into the garden i have another large garden bench to do and i think its going to be in Lavender i have already revamped two large planters in lavender and i love it and i,m feeling blessed to be well and able to do them , long story for another day ...

Today i have actually been out and mixed with humans ,!! i live in the country and very content to be around the homestead all week ... anyway let me explain .. Jax is my niece , but more like my little sister , lives about 14 miles away .we get together and craft and have a girlie catch up . Jax has these chairs[dining] that needed the seats recovering [hubby hates them ] ..knowing this i took my trusty staple gun with me ,well just in case ... some thick ticking fabric was the chosen fabric and i set about the job, halfway through i let her into a secret ..Jax i have never done this before...she thinks i can do anything ..well i pulled it off , and the second was much easier i had a ball and shes happy too and for a first time not bad ,they look contemporary instead of frumpy...and i think Her hubby wont be taking them to the recycle center after all ..

This chair was really grotty when i got it , although in its day believe it or not would have cost around £250...not bad for £1...after a little sanding ..it was transformed with some duck egg blue chalk paint from Annie Sloane in Oxford i bought several cans on line as i don't have a local stockist here in Cornwall
Chalk paint is the perfect medium for painting on wood and i have used this many times you can use emulsion but i always go back to Annie's
So here you go ....sand .. paint two coats.. finish with a water based wax using a brush, allow to dry ..distress using course then fine sandpaper ,..wax again ,optional ..i always do two waxes on chairs or hard wear items..and ...Enjoy

This week Big Al has had a weeks leave,which has been really nice , we have done loads in the garden ...we couldn't find the card reader to upload for weeks Big AL found it today under my computer desk .. so will post some pics in a day or two.
On Monday we went to Helston [70 miles] to visit some friends we haven't seen in ages , Tuesday we went to Tavistock[12 miles ] my favourite town it has an indoor farmers/craft market bought some fab buttons,and a good old mooch round the charitys where i bought some fabric and some walking boots didnt i do well ?.
Today the postie brought two parcels ..one a book from Amazon and the other some fab Rowan wool planned to make a ripple blanket ,i have almost finished my second bag pattern on Lucy's..Attic 24 i have been crocheting for ever !!but have only recently followed a pattern last year i made about 10 large blankets all striped so no pattern needed the ripple will be a challenge .....can i do it i hope so .
We have been blessed with lots of sunshine this week the 21st the first day of spring my favourite season...

re potting , doesn't sound a lot but it was a workout ! and boy do i ache all over !! everywhere needs a spring clean outside ready for ..SPRING..I enjoy spring best of all it reminds me of new life ...buds on the trees , daffodils ,tulips , violas ,pansy's primroses , trees slowly turning green ,baby lambs are arriving on the family farm..and its uplifting to see them hop skipping in the sunshine in the field behind ,us new sounds birds sing more as they feel the season changing too, i embrace all the seasons but spring is just the best
I have big plans involving the garden that involve Big Al too he doesnt know yet might need to break him in gently ....

Yesterday i was excited to gather a bunch of daffodils from my garden isn't it nice to have colour springing up from the garden, lots of crocus in various colours, i am a girl that loves colour,!! , whilst i can see that minimalist and cream neutral colours make for an uncluttered look ,and would make my life a lot easier if i was like that ...but its just not ..me.. !!I like colour and clutter..!
I need colour ..!it evokes my senses cheers me up, i feel happy with the richness of colour around me ...my favourite palette is what i describe as ..wine gum ..colors, and they follow me throughout my home in every room ,
and in my garden ..strong reds, golds ,blues, deep pinks ,purples, can be found in my flower beds i have a big heart shape flower bed on the front lawn Big AL years ago one weekend morning started digging around sunrise and when he was almost done shouts up to the bedroom window for me to look out, bleary eyed i see this lovely love heart shape ..now hes a chap who rarely tells me he loves me in words but by actions ..needless to say it,s filled with colourful pretties such as snowdrop lots of them . .tulips are next to bloom a statement of Big Al's love for me, we both adore flowers and Big Al says a lady needs flowers for her table.. a new flower bed is planned when i can convince him to dig it ..soon ..hope so !
I am constantly reminded of the wonder of how God created..Everything !!!...Perfect ..Don't you think ? x

Look at these little cuties !

Today has been a lovely day ...mostly because i went to an auction which i really enjoy.the car was bursting with my auction goodies ,a wheelbarrow for £3..a bargain and it will be .. MINE.. a huge amount of terracotta pots , a cat basket and a few bits n bobs , some of the pots i plan to paint i want to create and inject some extra colour outside and the garden table and chairs will have the same face lift !!forget me not blue and lavender is my plan .....i just need some sunny spring days to kick start me ....

Big Al has a weeks leave so we are going out for the day with his brother and wife ,heading to Exmouth Devon on the coast for late lunch early tea a walk on the beach maybe ,and then onto Exeter Westpoint for ----a show at 7-30---Dancing on Ice . very special and expensive but a fab treat more on that tomorrow . x

Meet Milly
Shes a West highland terrier age seven + we have re homed her from some breeders , as she needs some loving they have taught her well
Shes ,sweet and gentle and is fitting in well,
and not at all phased by Florence and Suzie our cats , nor they by her too much in fact we are amazed ,Suzie is Naomi's cat and is on permanent holiday with us !!and has three legs she is a real character, Naomi moved counties/jobs ,and is in a house share, so no pets allowed .
Florence is almost fifteen and a little nervous of Milly still its early days shes only been here since Saturday but on the whole its going very well.

I would love to live in this cosy little hideaway, down a long lane with an orchard for sure and a stream ---just dreaming my dreams ----
Its really icy and Hunter Gatherer is working early am tomorrow and is concerned about the journey to work only under two miles but very bad road conditions when he came home at six.
Ben was unable to go for his respite weekend its forty miles away in St Austull hes not too dissapointed thankfully.
We were off to an auction tomorrow out in the sticks near Davidstow airfield but we will have to see
I have also been productive and painted some gold plaster of paris Cherub candlesticks in F@B old white they look fab ..they were in a £1 box from the last auction , a tarnished brass photo frame and a large pine ..now old white frame i plan to get some chipboard letters paint them and put a verse or something.. the background is red gingham , actually fablon you now the stuff used to line shelves bought in Lidl..i,m pleased with my efforts.

Plants

The sun was shining ..and i had the urge to do some pot planting.we,ve been nursing plug plants for weeks ..lots of them !! but its been so rainy or i just wasn't motivated ! my Mum had a saying the spirit moved and so did I..so about thirty six pansies and primroses are now in their new home , still about another four shuttle trays eighteen in each tray to go maybe tomorrow if its dry ..I can recommend QVC on the telly they come as plugs and are always healthy and a very good price too.
Big Al is checking the weather and getting the cats in and ..its snowing!! its 11pm could be a pretty scene in the morning

Yes we have snow in England ! .towards London and up north much more than .in Cornwall we rarely have it for long ,
My hunter gatherer left home an hour today to travel a mile and half through hilly country lanes it was sheet glass under the snow he said it was a bit scary!!!.
Ben's day center was not opening nor most of the schools !! England goes into crisis when it snows and to invest money into resources for a few days a year .well it wont happen .. to you guys across the pond that have it all winter must wonder whats all the fuss ,? we could have more tonight or we could wake up and its all gone , some nice pics later ..
The wood burner was going flat out so well i just had to sit by it and do some crochet..i,m on flowers at the moment ,i have just finished a blanket for a baby arriving in July ,i love to do stripes and it gives it a modern look for a modern Mum to be.
My Daughter is going to New York on the 6 Th so hope flights will be OK shes just site seeing really and is quite excited shes there about a week ...

All ls well after my epidoodal !![ steroid ]i was on a monitor for 90 minutes after then allowed home ,as my BP was fine ,it can drop dramatically and then after 30/40 mins pick up and today well i,m a little fragile and sore the pics indicate what i,m doing under a blanket with Florence our cat snuggling up together and doing a little stitching and crochet.i have just braved a freezing cold kitchen and popped in the oven a beef and vegetable casserole , it will cook nice and slow .

I supposed to take take things easy for 2/3 days for best effect .. i do try !!!
A year ago we lost our dog.. Beanie .. this weekend we are going to visit a little west highland white named Milly..she is eight and we have been offered to us by a breeder who is the guy who will in the summer fix our roof we have got to know Seb and his postwomen wife Val well ,sadly Milly is barren . more on that
when we have met her. and see if she likes us.

Oh i have been really busy today ,catching up on as much as i can
as tomorrow Wednesday i have to be up with the lark ! i have to
be in hospital by 9am ...and its 30 + miles from me and the traffic
into the city ..PLYMOUTH.. [ UK ]will be heavy , a good friend is driving me I,m having an epidural into my spine for pain relief ..its not pleasant ,but it really does make a difference to my day to day life , i have three a year, surgery is really major and the surgeon cannot guarantee i will be pain free after !! it involves a rod some scaffolding and lots of screws !!!in and around my spine..i would have to be in good shape to have the operation ...not sure what he means by that ..ha ha ..i,m putting it off for as long as i am able .i,m much better than i have been for a long while.. i also have ..Fibromyalgia..which is behaving at the moment .. its been .a challenging seven years .but like any chronic condition you learn to live with it ,and i am a positive kinda gal and my friends laugh as i always have my lippy on no matter what ....well i have to look at.. me ..so i reckon i gotta look my best ... when i was nursing i didn't have any pockets in my uniform so well guess what ? i kept my lippy down my bra !!!i,m good at improvising !!So for 3/4 days i am supposed to take things easy ...for best result. Ben is in respite until Thursday night. Ben is autistic and some brain damage/+epilepsy and although almost thirty is like a young boy really he is very handsome and has a lovely personality, we are very close.

Auction

We have been to an auction today its such fun i bought a huge wicker basket
its shaped like a wash basket ,laundry or logs not sure yet £4 ..also a portable TV /built in DVD for £13 its fairly new, well it is to me isn't it ? and our spare one is ancient !the auction is held on the edge of Bodmin moor in a little village hall, the auctioneer's wife does tea ,cake, and sandwiches ..and its quite the gathering place to meet up and have a yarn [chat] with acquaintances we have got to know at the auction
The sun has had its .hat .on today chilly but no wind ,what i call ..healthy weather ...mind you its blowing a gale and raining hard now at 10.45 pm ...

Hair

Big Al and me on hols in Wales last summer with all the relatives down on the farm ..we had a games afternoon ...it was a lotta fun..!!!!
Last year was a hundred years of the classic..Bob... i read in a fashion magazine waiting at the hairdressers in early December my intention was to just have a trim ,i was telling Denise who cuts my hair ,she said yours would suit that ,and well before i knew it fourteen inches of length was on the deck....my hair was the longest it had .ever been mid way down my back its very curly and red !! so now i have an inverted Bob!
I returned today for just a trim..
You see until i was forty i disliked my hair, but then something happened .. we had some teaching in my church about who we are in Christ Jesus ...God revealed to me who i was ,,i had some prayer about the issues with my hair and now i ...Love it... and don't want to go gray ...possibly ever .both my Granny's were redheads so it was bound to happen to one of us i have four sisters and i am number four
It was actually my Mum who disliked red hair and was relieved when the first three were born and were dark brown ,when the district Nurse [Cookie ] who's 50Th birthday i was born on [ she delivered us all at home ] wrapped me up and handed me to Mum she forgot all about the red thing ..unconditional.. Love.. my Mum really did not want a fourth child let alone another girl ..God new me in my Mothers womb ... PS 139

Its been a productive day .. ages back i bought rather a nice brass lamp at an auction it was rather tarnished ..and today i painted it in Farrow/Balls all white,
its a tall lamp and its turned out well ,i have sealed it with a liquid acrylic wax, next is a new shade...
Also i had a blackboard with a pine trim ..its also white now and i covered the picture at the top with a piece of Anna Griffin paper ...Lovely pictures to follow..

Don't you just love this wallpaper its a Cath Kidston print and i,m hoping that its still in print when we get around to putting it up , I have the bedlinen in the similar CK design and it looks rather lovely i bought it from eBay that is the colour palette .add some gingham and duck egg blue ,here and there .. lovely ...i can see it all finished ....
I,m yearning for an old fashioned iron bed , well i would settle for a newish one pretending to be old ..if that doesn't happen then the pine one will have a face lift .i will paint and distress it , loads can be stored underneath the bed in trunks , our bedroom is small ..and when we decorate we may have to sleep in the camper in the driveway ..should be fun... we haven't got a spare bedroom..maybe one day ...
Anyways it will be a summer task ..as we are waiting for the roof man to fix a damp problem first .. but the good ones are always busy but worth waiting for.

Just a smooth running day cleaning ,tidying ,washing ,drying,well
a bit of everything really my hubby has all weekend off so wanted to catch up so that i can spend some time with him in a tidy house ..yippee..he doesn't mind at all he never even notices it when its a mess !! but i have to have organised chaos in my clutter ...
My brother in law has had double heart by pass in Plymouth and a dear friend Alec has had his hip replaced they are doing well so some cards to make and some visits .i think..

Its been a different day today ... a girlee day spent with my niece who is really like my
sister i was ten when she was born ,we get together and try out different craft ideas i have a new cuttle bug machine so we put it together gave it a trial run ....fantastic ...to emboss a whole card in paisley it looked fab... and that's the beginning i have a few more dies to try ..we haven't seen each other since Christmas week so we had a lot to catch up on,she lives about twelve miles from me

Most of today has been tidying away ..stuff...and takes so much longer

than the cleaning , !! Ben was in respite today for a long day so this was my opportunity the sitting room seems bare without the decorations .. I think i will move things round a little ...

We had our first ever digital camera for Christmas so i need to learn how it works ,i think i will take some pics of some of my favourite things .......As you can see my dresser needs to be sorted too much on ,this is the before picture the after when i,m done ........

Today we took a trip to my favourite town ,Tavistock which is in
Devon its got a really great indoor market that sells everything you can think of,
i,ve gotta thing about little teddy bears and found two to come and live at ours
also my husband treated us to some fab Cath Kidston oil cloth , red paisley , it was only
yesterday i thought how nice it would be to have some red cutlery, well would you believe
it i picked up a set in a charity shop for £2 a nice bright red , i would like some red table mats next i,m sure they will come along , maybe i will look on eBay !!
You see God looks after us in ways that often don't notice and i don't mind if its new,or a second
hand find its .....new to me.. another thing i got was a biscuit barrel very old with fab flowers on no lid , but will look super with flowers in or ..sweeties !! even ...
I just love a Saturday afternoon jolly out with my beloved Big Al ......x.
